The Mekong-Ganga Cooperation was launched with the Vientiane Declaration on Novem in the capital city of Laos, Vientiane with the primary thrust to expand solidarity, harmony and cooperation in the fields of tourism.   The Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) is an initiative by six countries – India and five ASEAN countries, namely, Myanmar, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. The proposal for the formation of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) was finalized by the foreign ministers of the six members at the sidelines of the ASEAN.   Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) is an ambitious initiative of India along with Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It was first launched in Vientiane, Lao PDR with the objective of cooperation on tourism, culture, education as well as transport and communications.
